The Support option is a valuable way to increase the effectiveness of your troops on the field. Each character has a certain Affinity. If you pair up two characters who share the same Affinity and keep them side-by-side in battle over multiple turns, they can provide each other with statistical boosts.

The amount of time you must keep two units together varies. If the Support option appears in the Actions menu, the two units will talk to each other. From that point on, they will each receive a small bonus to their HIT, ATTACK, and AVOID stats - as long as they are within three squares of each other.

The Support option is one of the most difficult techniques to master in Fire Emblem.
